Andrew Mason

A proud Brooklynite, Andrew Mason is a writer and musician who is steeped in the cultural ripples of NYC’s classic ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s underground club scenes. He was a Contributing Editor for Wax Poetics Magazine for its entire 20+ year run and co-owns Names You Can Trust Records. An accomplished DJ, he’s toured around the world under the nom-de-wax Monk-One as well as holding residencies at WBAI-FM and numerous metropolitan establishments, from chic to grimy. He taught ESOL at Rikers Island for years and is a strong advocate for criminal justice reform. Andrew is a daily Prospect Park goer where he enjoys dog-watching and rambling with his kids.
