Kendra Morris
Kendra Morris is a New York City–based soul singer-songwriter originally from St. Petersburg, Florida. She has released five albums, including her 2012 debut Banshee (Wax Poetics Records), the covers record Mockingbird (Wax Poetics Records), Babble, Nine Lives, I Am What I’m Waiting For and her latest album Next (all Colemine Records) which doubles as a board game and is up for Grammy Consideration this year for Best Record Packaging and Best Alternative Music Album. Her music has been remixed by DJ Premier and featured on Showtime’s Ray Donovan, and her haunting cover of Pink Floyd’s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” drew critical praise in the trailers for the film Dead Man Down. She has toured with her live band extensively and is a frequent collaborator with hip-hop supergroup Czarface, appearing on Czarface Meets Metal Face, Czarface Meets Ghostface, Super What?, and most recently Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer. She also is an avid analog stop motion animator creating videos for herself and others including Skinshape’s song "I Didn’t Know." She directed and animated the official video for Czarface and MF Doom’s “Bomb Thrown” and was recently featured for work on her own video "In My House" (Next) at the GEARR Cork Intl Short Film Fest.
Morris performs an expanded solo show featuring live MPC sampling of her own music and hosts "Nite Starter," a weekly music variety livestream on YouTube and Twitch exploring the stories behind songs and the people who made them. She plans to tour more in 2027, with several new projects and collaborations in the works.
