Local artist and tour guide Rich Garr leads this monthly exploration of Gowanus by focusing on art around it's rapidly-evolving streets. The route weaves over quirky bridges and cobblestones for a variety of views. It also offers differing viewpoints, which often come directly from the mouths of artists and other players in this dynamic creative community. Whether the art is legal or not, commercial or "fine," it all plays a role in this unique multi-sensory collage of Brooklyn art and history. The neighborhood is steeped in a history that is both natural and industrial, and covers the Lenape era up to the present realty boom. No walk is ever the same. It begins at the Gowanus Souvenir Shop, and ends after 1.5 hours at an appropriate [and delicious] location. In partnership with the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club. Tickets, $25.
